Data Protection Act 2018

New Data Protection legislation, in the form of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, came into force on 25th May 2018, providing greater responsibility on all organisations to securely manage, hold and process data.

Via the Insurance Fraud Register (IFR), the insurance industry continues to process data "for the purposes of preventing fraud or a particular kind of fraud".

In order to ensure compliance with the new legislation, the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) has conducted a full compliance and legal review of the organisation to identify the data (and categories of data) we hold, assign an applicable lawful basis of processing and update all relevant policies and agreements.

If you wish to request your information, an updated Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) form is accessible via the FAQs section of the website.

A copy of the IFR Privacy Policy can also be viewed here.

Further information in regards to the new legislation can be found on the Information Commissioners Office website.
